Hexagon Shwe Shwe Africa Collage
 
There's so much pattern and history packed into those Shwe Shwe inspired geometric designs, it felt like a natural fit for tiles.
Each hexagon is handmade with Shwe Shwe-inspired patterns, then painted and sanded before being arranged into the Africa shape.
The hexagons give it a different feel to my square tile collages - more geometric, more graphic, but still very much handmade.
What I love about this one is that it works two ways. Hang it on the wall as a statement piece, or lay it flat as a tray or underplate...the tiles are heat resistant, so it can handle a hot pot straight off the stove without any fuss.
Mounted on a 6mm MDF backing board with a ribbon already attached, so it's ready to hang the moment it arrives.
No two are ever identical.
